And I disagree with your disagreement. You say "Ally, by definition", yet I have yet to see a definition of ally. "Ally" is a label, and it gets misused like any other label. I prefer to say that "I'm on your side and I want to help". The term "White ally" means different things to different people, and there are all kinds of articles that talk about "insincere" allies, and "performative" allies. I tire of the labels and the new lexicons that define and limit the discourse around important issues like race.
