Because - simply because, when we are responding to articles with this response, the article almost always strongly implies, or directly states, sometimes even stressing in the title, that all men (Whites, atheists, Americans, capitalists) are _______ (racists, misogynists, narcissists, unfeeling, pick your poison). If there is any nuance in the article, if there is any room for the reader to interpret that it does not apply to all men, I would not bother. But in way too many articles, particularly here on medium where people are anxious for claps, there often is no nuance, no caveats, no exceptions, everything is an absolute. It may be just an exaggeration for effect, but it is a bad trend in writing, and is seen in articles about gender, race, religion, any issue that can be dichotomized and, IMHO, causing arguments and pushing people away unnecessarily. The application of a few clarifying adjectives would make a big difference.
