First there were beliefs in multiple Gods that interfered in our lives in many ways every day. Then monotheism began to dominate, and the creation story of Judeo-Christians-Muslims was a God who created the Earth in 7 days. Then science proved the earth is a billion years old, so the 7 days became a metaphor. Then the evidence for evolution became overwhelming, so then God only got things started. Then evidence for the Big Bang as the creation of the universe began to be accepted, and now believers like Sentel want to say that God was the one who pushed the button for the Bang. I wonder if there is a theory of evolution for religious beliefs.
