Full disclosure, I'm an old White man. Having said that, I disagree with this. I am not a fan of identity politics in principle - I kind of agree with the premise of the article in principle. But there are times when one principle conflicts with another. We have given few political opportunities to Blacks, particularly women, in the history of our country, at times even conspiring against them. We need to artificially stack the deck in order to achieve another principle, equality of representation. Consider it a small gesture of reparation if you need to.

Besides that, we White males have screwed the pooch with politics in America. We need to step aside for a number of election cycles.
