I am getting a little tired of people pontificating about subjects that are not their area of expertise. This author needs to focus on the media. There are a lot of screeds out there today blaming everything bad in the world on this black/white term "capitalism". But capitalism has many forms, and is not the sole economic system in any country in the world; it is not some magical mind control that just operates on its own.

What the author is describing is one form of capitalism - monopoly capitalism, which is dominant today in some countries like the US, but it is not inevitable. There are many policy changes that would strengthen and expand government controls and make capitalism more beneficial for average civilians. What is lacking is political will.
