I believe it is a mistake to eschew a unique opportunity to gain a valuable tool in your personal toolbox. It may be just a piece of paper, but it can open doors you may have no idea will be in front of you in the future.

OTOH, you don't have to fret over doing it now. There will be other opportunities in the future. I got my Ph.D. when I was 45. I couldn't use it for what I wanted to, mostly because of my age, but it was the ticket to turning a -70K net worth into a sizable nest egg. Don't look down too much on just a piece of paper.
