I don't see that. Most American assets are its geography - its national parks, beaches, mountains. Some government buildings. Roads and bridges. These would be simple to split. Then we have national accounts - SS can be split easily since every claimant has his own account. Other accounts can be split simply by population. The military can be a split similarly, or be kept as a joint entity.

I don't see it as impossible.
