I entered the full time job market in 1975. Finding work was very difficult; I ended up moving to Alaska. Don't forget the ubiquitous headlines about AEROSPACE ENGINEERS having to work as clerks and waiters.
No, it was not all roses for the boomer generation. I believe that part of the reason we lost momentum on all the cultural and economic changes we started is that we had to struggle so much to find work we became workaholics. For me, never having to face extreme poverty was a major motivating factor.
