I have always, since I can remember, considered Airplane! as my favorite movie ever. Better than crime dramas, or medical dramas, or movie about ex navy seals saving some captured member's daughter.

Airplane! made fun of all of us, and in a way we could laugh at ourselves. It spawned a whole genre of spoof movies, none as great as the original.
