I think it is a cultural wart that we have to label everybody as some acronym or another. Some author comes up with some clever combination of words in the shower one morning, the acronym catches on in the ever-wise interwebs, and soon it is a part of whatever industry's lexicon. It may actually work for a while, but after a time it gets hijacked and applied to all different people and positions. It loses its meaning, but not its power to demean.
