I totally disagree. I don't eat meat, but I make an exception for seafood, so I am a pescatarian. Have been for 23 years. My weight and health are much better than when I ate meat. Less inflammatory problems, fewer digestive issues. I'm 68 and most people guess my age as under 50.
You can choose to eat whatever you want, eat meat. But it is not necessary. I won't list all the reasons not to, I'm sure everyone has heard it. But not getting enough nutrients without meat is just myth. If you didn't get enough from your diet, you may have been making the wrong choices.
By the way, I never have lectured meat eaters. On the contrary, whenever I am at a table with people I've just met, and it becomes known that I don't eat meat, I get peppered with questions from the meat lovers. Why do you....? Doesn't that....? I short-circuit the conversation because I learned early on that they are not honestly interested, they are just trying to start a fight to belittle my choices (hidden under a phony polite tone), in order to justify eating meat, to themselves.
