I'm not sure I would characterize his charm as charismatic. It only appeals to a minority of listeners, those with mental problems. But he does appeal to his base. He speaks at a grade school level that they can understand. I, too, have marveled at how he seems to connect with the people at his rallies, without actually saying anything of importance.
