Interesting compilation. I am weary of all the arm-chair psychologists and brand new philosophical geniuses that come up with all kinds of new words and phrases to label their brilliant observations about society.

I remember reading an article here that you may be countering. With all the horrible negative connotations to the word black, like "blacklist". My girlfriend is a tech writer, and had to go through every line of computer code at her company to edit out that word.

But I wonder, why do Black Americans prefer to call themselves Black, rather than African American? They refuse "colored", and "people of color" but accept Black. They want to be called Black, but then they want us to not use black for anything else, if it has any negative connotation.

Just too much weirdness. I think it is a problem of collective narcissism, people just placing too much emphasis on their own personal gripes. I don't mind if people call me White, even though I am more pinkish-brown. Just don't call me when I'm sleeping.
