Interesting read. I feel even more fortunate after reading this. I have thought about relocating to CA for a long time, but all the hassle you mentioned stopped me from pursuing it. But after a law was passed in 2017, I am a Canadian citizen because my father was born there. Took 3 years of paperwork and waiting and about $2,500, but I now have my Canadian passport.
