So very true. It is not unusual, however. The same can be said of Israelis and Palestinians, who share more DNA between them than any other ethnic group. But they are programmed, mostly by religion in this case, to hate each other. Human tribalism and the desire of one group to dominate another is at the heart of most of human dysfunction.
