LOL! Now see where this comes from. I was a Mensa member for about 8 years in Chicago. Not hard to do as I just used my GRE scores. I quit because I found way too many of them to be self-absorbed snobs, who used their membership cards as IDs to prove they were smarter than everybody else. But in many boring conversations with them, I found that not to be the case.
As you point out, education and IQ are not the same thing (although scientific studies refute that they are not related, and that causal effects go both ways). I found Mensa members to be intelligent for the most part, but not necessarily educated. Opinionated as hell, yes. More informed opinions - meh. The did tend to be very good at board games.
