OK. Now read Emlyn Boyle’s comment to me in this thread. Without knowing anything about me, without addressing anything about the issue itself, she just labels me and everyone who disagrees with her transphobic. This happens a lot, and it severely discourages discussion. Are there transphobic people, sure, but that is not a reason to label every cis person who doesn’t toe the transgender-accepted line as transphobic.

Think about it this way. The battle in this issue is between trans women and cis women, the trans woman being a biological man, the woman being a biological woman. Suppose I labeled every trans woman who disagrees with my point of view as sexist. That would be just as appropriate as trans people labeling everyone who disagrees with them as transphobic.
