OK, this is well thought out, researched, and written. And I agree with everything except one - I would not call these falsehoods lies. An untruth becomes a lie when the speaker knows it is untrue and says it anyway knowing it is not true. These things you write about are beliefs, they really (or say they) believe them. So while they may be bullshit, they are not really lies.
