“Other people” Other people can think whatever they want. You can call people whatever you want. Opinions are like assholes — everybody has one. But don’t try and impose your own linguistic rules that you invent and then guilt-trip people who don’t agree or comply.

If I were talking directly to AOC I would address her as Senator Ocasio-Cortez. But if I’m discussing her in a comment on a social media site, I can call her AOC and it is not at all disrespectful, regardless of what the wokester army determines is right or wrong in their world.

And, by the way, calling people names is not a good practice.
