Racial tensions between POC and Whites are never going to diminish. After George Floyd was murdered, I was encouraged that the streets were full of protesters of all colors, including millions of White people. This could have been a moment of solidarity in the racial justice movement.

But since then we have become inundated with articles by authors like Marley K., Catherine Pugh, Umair Hague, etc, insulting White people, including those standing shoulder to shoulder with them. If Whites are out protesting, it is because they want to "virtue signal" that they are "woke". They are usurping Black people's day in the sun, trying to capture the attention. But, as Umair says, it is all a ruse, they are not real allies. They even coined a new term for it, "performative allyship". Marley K. says they CAN'T be true allies because "Yes, All White People Are Racist."

Last July, I joined a group called SURJ (Showing Up For Racial Justice), and another called OWMCL (Organizing White Men for Collective Liberation). I've gone to rallies, donated money (donated my whole $600 stimulus check), wrote letters. But most of their meetings were designed to "educate" White people about why they are racist. I refuse to be lectured to about this. I've been opposed to racism and discrimination all my life, and I do not need to be told how to think, feel, or speak.

Yesterday SURJ organized a rally in Portland, a "celebration" of the inauguration, which I was planning to go to. But I got cold feet at the last minute, and that was a good thing as it turned into a riot, protesting BIDEN before he even had his first Presidential breakfast. I quit that group, and I suspect there will be others like me. The progress made in uniting the races last year has been squandered by the hubris and bitterness of people like Umair and Marley K. The end result is that Blacks are going to hate Whites even more completely than they do now, and Whites are going to back away. The more things change, the worse they get.
