Some who follow me here know that I am not shy about ripping an economic analysis that is not well-researched or relies on platitudes. I hate that. But this story is not that. I applaud the hard work and detail. I was going to castigate you for not crediting one of the earliest authors of the proposal, Uncle Miltie, but there it was. So, bravo! This is a solid proposal, and I believe that at some point in the future some version of it will become law.
Only one thing. If we could adopt the other tax reforms you mention, the VAT would likely not be necessary. And we need to claw back some of the 50 trillion dollars in wealth that the richest 1% have detoured into their own accounts since 1975. The 2% wealth tax is necessary, but not sufficient.
