Superb article. I also worked in finance, in a different area as a risk manager. I managed to accumulate over a million in assets. But I bought a house for $120K, I drive a 20 year old pickup, and I just bought a boat - 35 years old with a 20 year old engine. Haven't bought clothes in years, don't wear jewelry. I just have a lot of trouble forking out money for fancy things for myself. Instead I'm planning to maintain this level for posterity, and will be leaving 40% to two scholarships at universities that helped pave my way. Thanks for this article, nice to know I'm not alone.
