The guys described in the article are not "nice guys". They are desperate losers. I am a nice guy. But if I make an advance to a woman and she appears uninterested, I move on. In fact, I find the best approach is often to just maybe smile, and let the woman approach me.

I wonder if some of this is the product of the fantasy in romance novels of a man pursuing a woman until he breaks down her resistance and she finally "surrenders", leading to a happy life together ever after. That may have been something that happened in the 18th century, but it is clearly out of touch today. The liberation of women has changed the formula, and some guys just haven't evolved.
