We boomers thought the same thing. We were instrumental in the passage of the Civil Rights Act, the Voting Rights Act, pressure that brought abortion rights, the birth of women's rights and feminism ("womens' liberation"), the creation of the counter-culture that neutered the American requirement of conformity, not to mention the beginning of environmental protections. But younger generations see boomers as the cause of all problems we have today.

A nicely written piece, well thought out. I am with you on this. Language and culture always changes, but trying to force the changes through shaming and blaming creates resistance, and what is happening today is waaaaay overdone. The obsession with eliminating all potential slights against any population is actually creating a backlash that may make society worse off overall.
