There is an EV going into production in the next year or two, called the Aptera, that gets 1000 miles on a charge and has solar panels that get 40 miles per day. It would only have to be plugged in on rare occasions. It is in prototype stage now, they have to upsize it for the American market, but it will solve the distance issue.

And regarding the distance issue, most long distance travel by car is, I suspect, not much more than 400 miles in a day. That's 7-8 hours of driving. If there is a charger at each stop, no issue.
