To clarify - atheists do not, never have, tried to DISPROVE, either religion, or God. We just can't accept these concepts ourselves. When pressed, we will defend our point of view, but we do not normally try to force our non-beliefs on others, with a few exceptions like Bill Maher.

It is the most self-righteous religious who can't accept that we don't believe the same as they do. Throughout history the most religious people, of any religion, have tried to force other people to believe exactly as they do, by bullying, or shaming, and even upon pain of death.

I would think that Jews especially, after centuries of pogroms and the diaspora, who were threatened with death if they didn't give up their beliefs in favor of the prevailing religion, would be more tolerant of others. But that doesn't seem to be the case.
