Why stop at seven? I'm sure there are thousands of words that are in common use but had nefarious roots. But why is that the defining aspect of a word or phrase? Why is the root of a word more important than the current meaning and what it describes?

I used to recite this little poem to my daughter:

Fuzzy Wuzzy was a bear,

Fuzzy Wuzzy had no hair.

Fuzzy Wuzzy wasn't fuzzy, was he?

Slap me down, throw me in jail.
