Yes, I can understand that need to explore and start over. But that need is a way to get a better situation for yourself. If Mars were another Earth, let's go. But any colony there will be a small group of people stuck within a small, closed environment. None of the cases you describe moved to go into a hurricane or relocate to the middle of the Sahara Desert. There will be no going out into the woods, any excursion outside the bubble will be fully enclosed in a space suit, viewing sights that we would avoid on Earth, and fraught with peril. I suspect a colony on Mars will be an unpleasant living experience, and short lived.
