You are right that the sea change hit in 1980. The problem has been with predatory corporate monopoly capitalism. Pensions (which largely stopped in the 80s) and Social Security have not changed, they are not the issue. If you think that you have been sold a bad bill of goods. Boomers hit the labor force in droves in the 70s, and the vast majority have not seen their wages rise since the 80s. And the problem did not start with boomers, it began with Lewis Powell in 1971, the prior generation.
