And your description of the latter is skewed; the demonstration might have remained peaceful if not for the aggressive attacks on the demonstrators by Daley's goons.

This is a ridiculous false comparison. The Chicago event was a protest, a demonstration to show the unhappiness of the younger generation with the Vietnam war and the complicity of both parties. The Capitol riot was intricately planned ahead of time by several violent White supremacist groups with the express purpose of stopping the certification of a lawful election. That is insurrection, it is sedition. Nothing like that was happening in 1968, and your false comparison of the two is just complete nonsense.
