You need to activate your imagination. If he is released tomorrow, say, he will claim that it is because: 1) he is a tough guy, with a terrific immune system, the best ever; and 2) Covid is not such a bad virus, just like he's been saying, see he is a 74 year old man and it didn't bother him at all. On top of that is the sympathy vote (although not too many people are sympathetic).

We don't have evidence that this is true, but there certainly ARE motivating factors that feed into it. Look up "wag-the-dog".
