You should stick to commenting on subjects with which you have some experience. What the author explains is one of the reasons men razz and haze each other. Part of it is to test trust, knowing that you can speak in the group and not be destroyed because you say something the wrong way one time.

It is well known that men often have difficulties talking with women because women tend to look for hidden meanings, often the most negative context, in every word or sentence. Women don't understand this type of communication. That's fine, you don't need to understand us. But that doesn't excuse dismissing the point out of hand, or baselessly insulting the author.
