Yes, the KKK originated in the Democratic Party, because at the time the party was still the preference of the Confederacy and Nazis in other regions. But the party had been changing for several decades, and Nixon recognized that the values of the KKK were much more in line with the Republicant party, so he made his pitch to them, they switched to the Republicant party, Nixon got elected, and the Republicant Party has been the party of the KKK, Nazis, and other White supremacists ever since.
